Renowned personality

Mohammad Toaha was an active activist and politician of Language Movement. During this movement, he was considered as a student leader in the other way. [1]

Mohamed Toaha was born in the [[Noakhali district]; in Noakhali's Kushakhali village of Noakhali. He underlined the matriculation examination in 1939 under the University of Calcutta. Later in 1948 he received MA in state science.

The initial part of the Toha movement was truly active. From the beginning of the Language Movement, he created most posters, articles, leaflets. When on March 11, 1948, a group led by Toha, to submit a memorandum to Khwaja Nazimuddin at the secretariat, the police arrested him. Later he was tortured by them and he had to stay in the hospital for a week to recover from illness.

As a leader of the State Language Struggle Committee, Toha took part in all types of meetings with the government. He was VP of Dhaka University's Fazlul Huq Hall. When Mohammad Ali Jinnah came there, Toha presented a memorandum about his language needs. When the government was campaigning for writing Bengali using Arabic script, then she was vocal against it. He was the correspondent of Youth League at the All-Party Central State Language Council Council. In late 1952, he was arrested for being involved in student politics. He was released two years later and participated in the 1954 elections, where the United Front won. He was elected a member of the Provincial Assembly [2].

Death
Mohammad Toaha died on 29 November 1987.
